Wonderful! I've always loved LeMans. I'm really curious about this new version.

No way! I was just saying a few weeks back I'd love to see an updated version of Lemans! It was I think my first C64 game on cartridge I ever bought, and pretty good for an early C64 game released by Commodore. I especially liked being able to use my Atari 2600 paddles to play it, and it probably was one of the first games for the C64 that used paddles?

Neat! The lo/hi gear shift is an interesting addition, making the game a little more like Spy Hunter or Pole Position in feel.

Couple bugs though:

After the car sprite colours are made grey-scale in the tunnel, they aren't always restored to the original colours when emerging from the tunnel. I've for sure seen it happen with the Peugeot, the red wasn't restored, but I think I saw it for other cars too.

The game crashes if you hit the Restore key. It should reset the game back to the title screen.

Also, you seem to have taken credit for the bitmap shown at the beginning of the game, when it's just a partly modified/recoloured version of Worrior1's work from 2017: https://csdb.dk/release/?id=161662

Uncredited ripping isn't cool.

Also, making joystick or paddles a selectable option would be a good idea. The option is there in Ricardo's disassembly.

Le Mans is one of those games I always play with paddle controllers myself. It was a surprisingly good early game from Commodore, easily a rival for Monaco GP for the Sega SG-1000 licensed conversion.

I must admit when I saw the thumbnail pop up on Youtube last night I thought it was an update to the crappy Ocean game though lol
Easier to list what I don't own. Atari Jaguar/Falcon/600XL, Elan Enterprise, PC Engine Supergrafx, Jupiter Ace, GX4000 and SAM Coupe. Why the hell do I have 2 boxed Colour Genies or 3 TRS80s ?

I finally played it... impressive! It's a bit harder than the original, so I had to train a bit to get some decent score. I liked the fact that the gear is automatically set to low when entering thr pits. Sprites are wider, just like endurance cars are, so I had to re-adapt my game tactics, especially during the chicanes.
A very nice mod, that brings some freshness to an immortal game. Very well done.

First SeaWolf and now Lemans. Nice to see new life being brought to these early classics.
