A downloadable game

I've upgraded Jane Ansell's brilliant hexagonal 2 player game. It was originally published in PCW Magazine, 1983.

It now keeps match scores, alternates first player's move every match, converted to MODE 1 for higher resolution and I've also added a nice computery font (MICR E13B) for the hex numerics.

Play is simple. Add your go at any spare hexagon, or one that is already in your colour, to increment the count of that space. Once the number reaches the number of adjoining sides of that hexagon, it explodes! This is how you take over the other player's hexagons. Chain reactions can be most entertaining to watch! The tables can turn very quickly in this game. ENJOY!

There's two versions in the disc image...

"HEX2E" is optimised for the Acorn Electron

"HEX2" is more suitable for the BBC Micro as I've added a simulated orange text routine which is too slow on the Electron. The orange (dithered) text is best experienced on a real CRT.

Download the disc image. In the disc image are two files for the different versions of the game. Enjoy on a BBC/Electron emulator, or better still, a real machine with a CRT!
