Passing 500 individual downloads. That is massive. Adding to this I'm sure hundreds play it from an Assembly64 downloads and all seven people still using BBSes. Just wow. :)

Bacchus: Oh, I meant benefit like in any sense, blocks included, not just speed, obviously.

@hedning well N0SD0S and all the other loaders are similar when it comes to loading speed. So one does not install IFFL for the loading speed. It is only to win blocks.

Bacchus: As I know you have NosDos I am just curious, but you know more than me about this game and its loader and pros and cons when it comes to the loader and iffl, so I trust you on this.

@hedning IFFL does one thing and that is capturing the end of the last sector of each file. So in average you save one block per two files. The loader could be the same with or without IFFL.

If this was a fight over blocks I would have bothered to make it IFFL, but this was just a question of making a version that works at last. Adding to this I don't have an IFFL routine handy that supports all the cases needed that I am familiar with. Our own is WIP and the external one is still not usable to me, and also I don't like it's save inside the IFFL. I would only use it where there is no need for saving.

Excellent work on a great game. Thank you!

The game would not benefit from IFFL, I presume?

@ian I did fiddle a bit with the flickering in the picture viewer, where it was easier to optimise the bloated IRQ. It's mainly visible on the first picture anyways.

I wanted to launch my picture packer that takes and image studio picture and generates a kick assembler source that builds the picture. There is still a bug making in produce incorrect output so that will have to wait. For this project I corrected that manually, but you cant expect people to do that with the result a tool.

But if someone would like to draw a new set of pictures to create a remake of the game, then I will for sure rush the debugging :-)

What you could to is run the viewer, freeze on the pictures and save them using Action Replay save to Image Studio format (or save to IS format after repainting at least). Then my tool can pack them back to the native format of the game.

Thanks for the team work. I played and finished this one on Apple II a lot of time ago, it's time to give it another try. 10/10 is fully deserved!

As tester i would recommend people to go for "MIXED" as mode, there are three modes in the game, PICTURE (Default), TEXT and MIXED. See the documentation for more commands and such. If you do not wanna read them then remember this: SAVE GAME and RESTORE GAME to save/load. GL in your adventuring people and have fun.

Well done. It works better in NTSC, no flicker on the split screen.

@didi - It took eons to do it, so I would award us a golden star for effort. For the result I leave to others to have opinions about. But do use the picture viewer to look through the pictures, if nothing else...

FairLight proudly presents Bacchus's birthday present to you: Masquerade.

This game has never been presented in a fully working form before. Either containing files that were corrupt or with corrupt files replaced by a copy of one of the other files (making the adventure very confusing).

We have identified all but one original files, and the last one we salvaged four out of five blocks. Then a section from another file was implemented instead of the broken one, whereafter VDK repainted it watching a version from another platform. We then used Bacchus' new tool to pack back to the originally compressed format.

This version also overcomes the save with replace bug (by giving sufficient space on the disk), a decompression bug in the original (not sure if it ever is visible but it sure needed to pack back repainted pictures).

We also provide a viewer for those who are keen to see the pictures without playing the game.

Happy birthday to me :-)
