FROGS/SHOTGUN 4-player cartridge (+2 Joystick Ports)

Post by ZeHa »

Hi there,

as some of you might know, there will be soon a nice little cartridge containing the 4-player games FROGS and SHOTGUN. And to make things even cooler, the cartridge will contain 2 additional joystick ports, which means that there is no need to use a separate 4-Player adapter etc. to play the games on the cartridge. It's the perfect party module, so to speak 8)

What's included in the cartridge?
The cartridge of course includes the games FROGS and SHOTGUN, which can be selected via a nice little menu (even with background music!). Both games and the menu are designed to be operated entirely via joystick, so there is no need for leaning over the C64 keyboard after each round, etc (which can be quite nice for parties and events, when things are setup differently than on your desk). Also, this makes it possible to use the cartridge in a C64 Games System (C64GS). Btw, it also runs in the C128!

Additionally, there is a simple joystick tester included, which can be accessed via holding down a certain key during power-on. Also, BASIC mode is accessible as well.

What's included in the box?
Yes, there will be a box, just like my previous individual releases of FROGS and SHOTGUN. And as usual, it will include a printed manual and some nice extras, (see this example pic to get an idea). But if you can live without this stuff, it will be also possible to only get the cartridge itself (it will include a folded single-sheet print of the operating instructions, though).

The prices will be 34.90 EUR for the Boxed Version and 24.90 EUR for just-the-cartridge edition (shipping not included).

When will the cartridge be released?
The original plan was to release it before DoReCo (15.-17. Sep), but things are looking quite good at the moment to release it even before Gamescom (22.-26. Aug). Please understand that I can't guarantee this though :)

Interested?
Now for making the planning and manufacturing a bit easier, it would help to know who's interested in the cartridge, and also in which version (Boxed Version or just the cartridge). Please tell me either here, or via PM, or via email, which version you plan to buy. This is not a definite order of course, but please only express your interest if you're 99% sure :)

Important note: As the cartridges will most likely have to be produced in batches, all the collected names will be put on a list, and then the cartridges will be offered to them in this order. So please understand that depending on your place on that list, you might have to expect a little waiting time in between batches. Of course we try to make you happy as soon as we can, though :) but as this is a hobby project, I think everyone will understand that kind of procedure here. Of course, no payment will be collected until there is a ready-to-go cartridge available for you. And if you shouldn't be interested anymore, of course you will be simply dropped from the list and the next person advances. :)

I hope you will be as excited about this module as I am :)

Is this PAL only or is NTSC also supported?

Personally, I have both, so it doesn't change my interest in getting one. :)

Everything, the menu, the joytester and both games are NTSC compatible.

I would be interested in one cartridge edition if you are going to use PayPal.

Just said this because one time someone wanted something called a bank transfer with a BIN or something. Prefer not to do that.

Hi mistermsk,

Paypal will be fine!

What you probably mean is IBAN/BIC (international bank account number / bank identification code), which is pretty standard money transfer. This will also be possible but I'm actually glad if everyone simply uses Paypal :)
