Scoopex releases Sibwing AGA
With massive thanks to Earok and Acid Software, Scoopex presents Sibwing AGA from Acid Software.
This is the early pre-release for what became Guardian AGA, the Starfox/Starwing like clone on the SNES. Theres some differences, and theres also a lot of bugs, so theres a chance it might crash which is why we advise you NOT to install on hard drive so it doesn't risk invalidating it. Its a curiosity, and its part of Amiga history, and it shows the transition to what it eventually became, and we don't get to see enough of that. So, in the zone, Sibwing AGA pre-release, enjoy, or don't |

Someone needs to do a longplay, there's a lot of cool stuff in the later levels (eg an Egyptian themed level where you have to race between Pyramids under fire, weaving above and below signs). Anyone up for it or should I give it a try?

Hey guys,
Couldn't work out how to "shoot" but have now managed to... If for example I'm using "Keyboard Layout B (Cursor keys, Right CTRL and ALT = Fire)"; when you start and press Right CTRL it will accelerate the ship. If you then press Right ALT it will shoot Thing is I don't seem to be able to shoot and accelerate... Anyway; guess this is one of the bugs or I possibly need to use a 2 button joystick / joypad? |

I think you're supposed to just tap fire to shoot, hold to accelerate.. it's a bit fidgety but yeah

Nice and thanks!
Galahad, you mention and thank Acid Software so I assume they did give the green light for this release? If so, this is really cool. Are they still active in one form or another? I am a big fan of Super Skidmarks and I tried unsuccessfully some time ago to find out if their members were still making games out there, but there are few traces left of them that I could find. |

Simon Armstrong gave me access to the contents of one of his old Amiga hard drives, which contained the SibWing press release version. I got both Simon and Mark's permission before supplying it to Galahad to do his magic - Mark Sibly is still making Blitz Basic derivatives, the latest is Monkey-X http://www.monkey-x.com/ - Simon Armstrong is still doing cool things, his blog is http://nitrologic.blogspot.co.nz/ - Chris Blackborne had a long career with Ubisoft, Lionhead, Bioware etc but has returned to the indie game scene and is working on Epic Skidmarks for HTML5: http://epicskidmarks.com/ Last edited by earok; 10 July 2016 at 02:53. |
